2.5 lakh students benefit from 'Flood IT' initiative of Gujarat Bank

2.5 lakh students have benefited from the 'Flood IT' initiative, launched by Gujarat Urban Bank Co-operative Banks Federation, within six months of its launch on February 10 this year.

Gujarat Urban Bank Co-operative Banks Federation chairman Jyotindra Mehta said ''The ‘Flood IT’ project has achieved remarkable success in a very limited span. Around 145 banks and 100 other organisations have participated in the scheme.'' He said ''More than 600 branches of various banks have extended loans to customers under the scheme and Intel has provided benefit of this ‘knowledge revolution’ to the people in the remote villages by distributing computers through millennium vehicle.'' The success of the scheme can be gauged from the fact that within six months, around 9,000 villages in 24 districts have reaped the benefit of this initiative, which has provided level playing field to the students in these villages and helped in making them competent to compete with their peers in the cities
